occasionally times when students or parents would like to provide
information to a school but hesitate because they do not want their
identities known. Providing open direct communication with the community
is one of our main goals for the Mechanicsburg Exempted Village School
District. The Mechanicsburg Schools now offers the Safe School
Helpline, another method to allow parents and the community to provide
input for our school. This service is provided by Security Voice, an
outside company with no other ties to our school.
Whether it is a
student who fears being called a snitch or narc by peers, or a
resident who worries about vandalism in retaliation for reporting a
crime, possession or use of drugs or alcohol, reckless driving, or any
other illegal activity the Safe School Helpline provides a solution.
Safe School Helpline utilizes a unique, automated telephone service
(1-800-418-6423, ext 359) and website (www.safeschoolhelpline.com) which
allows users to report an allegation, concern, or suggestion
confidentially and anonymously. The user is never asked to give their
name. The message will be transcribed and then sent to school officials.
In this way no one but the Security Voice operator hears the callers
voice. This way information will get to school officials without the
school knowing who expressed a concern.
